Completion of newly build DC Bleckmann
We are proud to announce that, after a construction period of approximately 15 months, the handover took place on March 10th to the main tenant, Bleckmann. This marks the completion of the first demonstrably circular distribution center, located at Newton 4 & 5 on the XL Businesspark in Almelo. The distribution center spans 46,237 sqm GFA.
A New Sustainable Benchmark
The completion of this new building sets a new standard for demonstrably circular construction. Thanks to the efforts of a dedicated team of project partners, circular building has become accessible and measurable. After independent evaluation, the following targets have been achieved:
- Materials Circularity Index (MCI): 0.70 --> 19% improvement compared to conventional construction
- Disassembly Index (LI): 71% --> 20% improvement compared to conventional construction
- Building Circularity Index: 46%
- Environmental Performance Buildings (MPG): 0.25 --> 62.5% improvement compared to conventional construction
This significant achievement contributes to the ESG & SDG goals set by the United Nations.
